In my class of '63 we have had quite a few who are still married to their high school sweetheart. At the top of my head, I can name 7 couples. Or, who were not high school sweethearts in high school but married another alumni later. I'm sure there are other classes that have this same record. Do you think that's unusual?

I can think of that many too, Marti. In my class of only 44 people, there were 3 couples who married and are still married. I met Larry right after I graduated and we have been married for 53 yrs. I can think of a lot of couples that went together in high school and are still married. The group of people we go to dinner with, some are still married to the same person they met in high school. I know of some that lost their wives or husbands and married someone from the same class or someone that they knew from our school.
I think it is unusual for couples to stay together in this day and age for that long. They don't give it a chance. Of course our son and his wife are still together after being married for 25 yrs. It is a lot of give and take and having an understanding of one another. Of course being from a small town like Greenhills does help. It is also having the same values that makes the difference.

I agree with you about younger people letting go of their marriage too soon. I know it is very hard and you do have to work on it that's for sure. I also think it is so great how the earlier graduates seem to stay friends compared to the classes after the 1950s decade. Could be that the the classes got too big and you didn't get to know everyone as well.? I'm just thinking out loud here, I guess.

Marti, Greenhills was a place where you knew most all of the families and were friends with their brothers and sisters from other classes. This is what made it unique. The classes were smaller so it made it easier to know everyone.

I forgot to mention that I go to lunch every month with a group from the class of 1949, called the "49ers" Although I am from the class of 1953 I still see people from the other classes. We all have lots of fun at lunch. I knew these women when we were all younger. Another friend of mine from my class goes also.
